Three-time Big Bash League (BBL) winner Sydney Sixers have re-signed spinner Stephen O’Keefe for another season of BBL after their title-winning campaign last season. The club is in line for their third successive BBL title win.
This will be the 36-year-old’s 11th season with the club. “I’m extremely grateful to Cricket NSW and (CNSW CEO) Lee Germon for giving me the opportunity to play another year of cricket with the Sixers and keep playing the game that I love,” O’Keefe said
O’Keefe finished BBL|10 season as the third all-time leading wicket-taker for the Sixers in the Big Bash with 48 scalps at the impressive average of 26.64. He also played an instrumental role in helping the Sixers bag the title in BBL|09. O’Keefe played nine matches and claimed seven wickets, and he returned a vital 2-22 from four overs in The Qualifier against the Melbourne Stars at the SCG to take the club to the Final, which earned him the Player of the Match award.
He has appeared in a total of 84 matches for the club, clinching 63 wickets at an economy rate of 6.78.
The BBL|11, starting on December 5 at the SCG with the Sixers hosting the Melbourne Stars, is likely to see the return to a full 61-game home and away schedule this summer. The tournament will conclude with the Final on January 28.
