Tamil Nadu Cricket Board (TNCA) confirmed on Wednesday that they are likely to release T Natarajan from Vijay Hazare Trophy as the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has requested they want him ‘fresh’ for the upcoming limited-overs series between India and England.
“That is what we have heard. We have not got a request in writing but we understand that the team management wants him to get ready by practising at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The secretary is looking into it. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will take the right decision,” Cricbuzz quoted Kasi Viswanathan of TNCA as saying.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team management want him fresh. It is in the national interest and so we are ready to oblige. We had named a replacement should he be not available and that issue has been sorted out. We have released Natarajan,” TNCA secretary S Ramasamy confirmed.
India, which is currently playing their ongoing four-match Test series against England, is set to play three ODIs and five T20Is following the completion of the Test series.
BCCI has asked TNCA to give him rest as they want the pacer to be ready for the limited-overs series. The cricket governing body has also asked them to send Natarajan to the National Cricket Academy for preparing for the matches.
