In a mounting problem of player unavailability in the Proteas team, an injured Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the upcoming four-match T20I series against Pakistan.
White-ball captain of the team suffered a Grade One hamstring strain during the third and final match of the ODI series against Pakistan on Wednesday. He showed signs of discomfort from the injury while batting in the 22nd over of the SA inning. Bavuma had to receive an on-field treatment during the match and was seen limping later.
Heinrich Klaasen has been named the captain of the team in Temba Bavuma’s absence.
The Proteas are already without some of their key players who have left for IPL- Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi.
SA’s first choice-players Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen have already been sidelined for their respective reasons. Dussen, who suffered a Grade One left quadriceps muscle strain, is undergoing treatment that Mark Boucher said would require 10 days. On the other hand, Hendricks has pulled out of the series owing to personal reasons.
