Former England wicketkeeper James Foster has been appointed as the new Head Coach for the Northern Superchargers Men’s team ahead of The Hundred 2022.
Foster has a rich coaching experience in various prominent leagues globally including in the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League in Australia, and most recently as England’s wicketkeeping coach. He’s also worked with clubs in the Bangladesh Premier League, the Caribbean Premier League, and the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament.
One of his first tasks will be to finalise the list of players the Superchargers will keep from their 2021 roster and prepare for the Men’s Draft, which will take place at the end of March.
Foster, who is currently serving as the Head Coach of Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Northern Superchargers and working with the team this season.
“I loved watching The Hundred last year and seeing so many kids and families enjoying it, and I am really looking forward to meeting up with the group and getting started.
“It’s a huge privilege and I’m thrilled to be working with an exciting group of players and hopefully we can excite the supporters with the style of cricket we play.”
Andy Dawson, Northern Superchargers General Manager, said: “James has a vast amount of experience working with high profile coaches from around the world and we’re thrilled to appoint someone of his calibre.
“He embraces the culture and environment we want to create at Superchargers, and we’re sure he will help us create sustainable success on and off the field.”
In addition, prior to The Hundred 2022 tournament, Hassan Cheema has been named the Superchargers Men’s team analyst. Cheema is now working with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League and is well-known for his work with international teams.
