VEL vs TRL Live Score: Deepti Sharma’s Velocity which needed to win or lose by a narrow margin to qualify for the Women’s T20 Challenge Final, won the toss against Smriti Mandhana’s Trailblazers in Pune.
Deepti chose to bowl first, stating that the Velocity team would prefer to bat second, a strategy that the team used to successfully chase down 151 in their first match. She stated that she wants her side to reiterate what was discussed in team meetings, such as the importance of role clarity.
Mandhana expressed her desire to chase after losing the toss. Because of their big loss in the tournament opener, the Trailblazers need a big win against Velocity to advance to the final. To overcome the large net-run-rate difference between the two sides, Mandhana’s side will need to win by roughly 31-32 runs (if the target is 160).
Each team made one change. Simran Bahadur replaces Maya Sonawane in the Velocity lineup, while Sabbhineni Meghana replaces Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter in the Trailblazers lineup.
After choosing to bowl first Velocity got a good start as they got the wicket of opener Smriti Mandhana on just one run. After that, it was all about Trailblazers. They managed to score a mammoth total of 190 runs in 20 overs.
Velocity may have been chasing a record target of 191, but they only needed to cross 158 to qualify for the final. Shafali Varma and Yastika Bhatia got them off to a great start. Despite the fact that Bhatia was out for 19 in the fourth over, Kiran Navgire continued to pound the Trailblazers bowlers.
Kiran Navgire scores fastest fifty in Women’s T20 Challenge:
Navgire hit the Women’s T20 Challenge’s fastest fifty in just 25 balls. This gave Velocity the platform. While they were all set to chase down the 191 targets, Velocity suffered a series of wickets in the middle overs. Navgire’s dismissal by Sophia Dunkley in the 17th over ended their hopes of chasing the 191-run target.
