After playing a heart-warming knock in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series 2020-21, Hanuma Vihari is now all set to lead Andhra Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting from 20th February 2021.
Vihari had torn his left hamstring while batting on the fifth day of the fourth Test against Australia, followed which he was ruled out of the final Test of the series.
If reports are to be believed, the 27-year old Indian cricketer has passed the Fitness Test conducted in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and thus will be available for selection in the final two Tests of the ongoing India-England Test series. In case he makes the cut for the final two Tests, he will then be replaced by A Brahma Teja in the Andhra squad.
Andhra Pradesh falls into Elite Group B in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which also consists of teams like Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha. The teams would be playing all their league games in Indore.
All the league games will be conducted between 20th February and 1st March 2021. The knock-out games consist of pre-quarterfinal (March 7), followed by quarter-final (8th and 9th March). The final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be conducted on 14th March 2021.
