Double Olympic Gold Medalist, Yohan Blake showered praises on Indian Cricket Team captain, Virat Kohli for not showing any excuses and taking the blame on himself after suffering a massive 227-run defeat at the hands of England in the first Test at Chepauk. Blake talked about the first Test between India and England in a video uploaded on social media handles.
“What I really love about Team India is that Virat Kohli doesn’t find any excuses. That’s what I really love about his captaincy, he took the blame for everything,” Blake said in a video uploaded on his social media handles.
“He said the bowlers didn’t find the right areas and that the batsmen were not as consistent. He said ‘we got to go back to the drawing board and come back’. And that’s what I love about Virat Kohli and his captaincy,” he added.
The 31-year old Gold Medalist also spoke highly of young Indian cricketers in Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. He stated that a fearless batsman like Rishabh Pant is excellent for Test Cricket, a format which is slowly losing its relevance in today’s world of T20 cricket.
“And also, what stood out for me was Shubman Gill, he’s a wonderful batsman. Of course, Rishabh Pant is excellent. Not every time he’s going to put on a show but he’s excellent for the game of Test cricket.
“That’s why I love Test cricket, it mentally tests you. (Cheteshwar) Pujara in Australia showed that wonderful fight and that’s what I love to see,” he added.
England currently leads the four-match Test series by 1-0. The second Test between both the sides will take place between 13th February and 17th February 2020 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It will be interesting to see if India can bounce back strongly in the series or England continues to dominate.
