England’s county cricket club Surrey on Tuesday signed the Australian fast bowler Seat Abbott for the upcoming season of Vitality T20 Blast.
The pacer will be with the side for the group stage of the T20 Blast along with three matches of the County Championship. Abbott will come in as a replacement of the West Indies seamer Kemar Roach as the second overseas player.
Abbott will reach South London for the group stage matches and the final two matches of County Championship of group 2 against Hampshire and Somerset.
He thanked the Surrey team on signing with them for the upcoming domestic county season.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to go over and play. I’ve had the pleasure of playing with a few of the Surrey guys who played at the Sydney Sixers who have done well,” Abbott said.
“I know they’ve got an amazing set up and a great bunch of lads so I’m looking forward to getting to London, playing some great cricket and making new friends.” he added.
Alec Stewart, the director of Surrey also praised the bowler stating his prowess in Australia’s domestic cricket and how he helped New South Wales reach the finals of the Sheffield Shield and domestic One-Day Cup.
“His all-round skills and the experience of having won back-to-back BBL trophies will add real strength to our group,” Stewart said.
