As per reports, Sri Lankan leg-spinning all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has decided to pull out of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. The 24-year old made the decision owing to national duties.
The leg-spinner was picked by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots during the Player Draft held in May. However, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed dates the white-ball series against South Africa to be 2nd to 14th September, clashing with that of the CPL 2021 matches.
“We are delighted to have another tour confirmed for the Proteas men’s team with the ICC T20 World Cup just around the corner. Playing against quality opposition in the sub-continent is the best way for our team to prepare for this event and we are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket for accommodating us during this time of the year where schedules are highly condensed,” The CSA’s acting CEO Pholetsi Moseki said earlier as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.
South Africa versus Sri Lanka series will comprise three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is. The three ODIs will be played on 2nd, 4th and 7th September, while the remaining T20 internationals will be played on 10th, 12 and 14th September.
Wanindu Hasaranga has been in terrific form lately. He finished the recently concluded T20I home series against India. The current No. 2 ranked T20I bowler picked up seven wickets in the, registering his best bowling figures of 4-9.
The CPL 2021 is all set to take place between 26th August to 15th September.
