After enduring a tough defeat at the hand of Kolkata Knight Riders, RCB skipper Virat Kohli delivered a heart-touching speech in the dressing room. He stated he enjoyed this season the most since the 2016 edition of the tournament.
Kohli added that he was proud of the way the guys fought in the tournament and said that he was grateful for his stint as Bangalore captain and for the faith the team management has shown in him over the years.
“Actually, if you ask me honestly, the 2016 season was very special for us, but I think this season has been the most enjoyable after that for me. Being a part of this group and the way we conducted ourselves and the way we have handled success and failure, I think that’s very very special. We all have worked very hard to achieve that. Yes, we might be disappointed today, but no one looks broken. We are all disappointed but we are very proud of the way we have played as well, which I think is something we have always tried to create in this franchise,” Kohli said in a video shared by RCB on their social media handle.
Kohli further said that he had given his all during his stint as a leader for RCB. He also mentioned that despite giving captaincy, he will continue to play a leadership role in the team.
“Tried the best I could. I will continue to give everything that I have for this franchise always and still be a leader around the group, but not the one making all the decisions.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore finished exited for the second consecutive time in the eliminator clash on Tuesday. Given that Kohli has given up the leadership role, the franchisee will be led by a new player from next year.
