Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced that Hayden Walsh Jr. has been ruled out of the West Indies squad picked up for their upcoming ODI against Bangladesh.
The cricket governing body confirmed that Hayden Walsh Jr tested positive for COVID-19 in the RT-PCR test carried out on Wednesday, following this he was ruled out of the squad. Walsh Jr is now undergoing a self-isolation period.
Walsh, who is asymptomatic of the virus, had initially returned a negative report of the COVID-19 test, but tested positive for the virus on his second test carried out in Dhaka.
“The West Indies touring squad has been in individual isolation since arriving in Bangladesh and so there has been no contact between squad members since arrival. In accordance with the established medical protocols, Walsh remained isolated from the West Indies squad and is now under the care and supervision of the Team Physician, Dr Praimanand Singh,” Cricket West Indies said in an official statement.
“Walsh will remain in isolation until he returns two negative PCR test results and therefore is unavailable to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh,” they added.
