The 20th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 will have West Indies take on Pakistan at Seddon Park on Monday, March 21. West Indies are well in contention of reaching the semi-finals. They are currently at number three on the table, having managed to secure 3 wins out of five. West Indies would be keen to earn another win on Monday and strengthen their chances of reaching the top four.
West Indies are coming into the encounter on the back of a 4-run win over Bangladesh on Friday. West Indies batted first but could only score 140 runs on the board. S Campbelle starred with the bat as she scored 53 runs in 107 balls. But she lacked support from the other end. However, despite that, Bangladesh fell four runs short of the target.
A collective effort from the bowlers helped West Indies earn their third win of the tournament. Hayley Mathews was the pick of the bowlers as she claimed 4 wickets for 15 runs in 10 overs, while the likes of Afy Fletcher and S Taylor picked three wickets each. ‘
Facing them are Pakistan, who are already out of a spot in the semis. They have played four matches but are still searching for their first win of the tournament. Pakistan played their last match against Bangladesh. They managed to restrict Bangladesh to 234 runs in the first innings. Nashra Sandhu starred with the ball as she picked three for 41 runs in 10 overs. However, Pakistan couldn’t chase it down as they fell 9 runs short of the target.
Sidra Ameen led the way with the bat as she scored 104 runs in 140 balls. Nahidu Khan scored 43, while Bismah Maroof contributed 31 off 48. However, all the other batsmen failed to contribute with the bat. Sidra Ameen held firm at one end but kept losing partners at the other end. And, in the end, they were restricted to 225 runs in the second innings.
