A mouth-watering clash is on the cards as Australia are set to take on West Indies in the 14th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 on Tuesday. Australia is currently unbeaten in the tournament. With three wins in three matches, they are sitting at the top of the points table. They are coming into the match on the back of a 141-run win over New Zealand.
Australia batted first in that encounter and managed to score 269 runs in the first innings. E Perry starred with the bat as she scored 68 runs in 86 balls. Besides, the likes of T McGrath (57) and Gardner (48) also made valuable contributions.
Lanning and Co. then bundled out New Zealand for a paltry score of 128 runs in the second innings. Darcie Brown was the pick of the bowlers as she claimed three wickets for 22 runs in 7 overs. The likes of Amanda Wellington and Ashleigh Gardner picked two wickets each.
West Indies, on the other hand, began their campaign with two consecutive wins before losing to India in their last match. They would look to get their campaign back on track. In their last game, the bowlers had no answer to the carnage produced by Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur as India scored 317 runs in the first innings. In reply, West Indies could only manage to score 162 runs.
The openers, Deandra Dottin (62) and Hayley Mathews (43) made an outstanding start to the chase. The duo added 100 runs for the opening wicket. However, once Dotting got out in the 13th over, wickets fell in a cluster and West Indies saw themselves getting bundled out for just 162 runs. West Indies would be hopeful of a better performance in the next match.
