India will be playing against England in the 15th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 on Wednesday at Bay Oval Cricket Ground. Team India are in a pretty good position at the moment. After losing to New Zealand, India got back to winning ways on Saturday.
The Women in Blue beat West Indies by 155 runs on Saturday. Riding on impressive tons from Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, India managed to score a gigantic total of 317 runs in the first innings. West Indies openers kept the team in the chase for the first 12 overs of the second innings. However, as the first wicket fell, West Indies lost wickets in a cluster and, in the end, were bowled out for 162 runs.
Sneh Rana starred with the ball as she picked three wickets for just 22 runs in 9.3 overs. Meghna Singh was also impressive for his 2 for 27, while the likes of Jhulan Goswami, Rajeshwari Gaikwad, and Pooja Vastrakar picked one wicket each.
On the other hand, England is out of contention for lifting the title this time around. The defending champions have lost all three played in the tournament so far. They had the chance of making a comeback in the last game against South Africa. However, the proteas went on to beat them by 3 wickets.
England couldn’t produce a great total on the board as they managed only 235 runs on the board in the first innings. The likes of Beaumont (62) and A Jones (53) scored respective half-centuries but, other than that, there weren’t a lot of useful contributions. England, in the end, managed to score 235 runs on the board. They fought hard with the ball and took the game till the very last over. But, South Africa eventually chased down the score with 4 balls left in the game.
