In an update to the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table, India has taken the top spot after winning the second Test against England at Lord’s. Pakistan and West Indies, on the other hand, are tied at second position. England is currently placed at fourth in the table. India accumulated 12 points after registering a historic win against England at Lord’s. Earlier, they had 2 points after the first Test resulted in a draw. With a total of 14 points to their name, India has claimed the number one spot on the WTC points table.
Pakistan recently beat West Indies in the second of the two-match Test cricket series by 109 runs and thereby accumulated 12 points. With that, Pakistan levelled the series 1-1. West Indies earlier had won the first Test and thus both teams have 12 points each to their name. England is at number three with 2 points after the first Test against India resulted in a draw.
Meanwhile, in the third Test of the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England, which starts today (August 25), the visitors have elected to bat first. India and England are currently battling out in the third Test at Headingley Cricket Ground. India has won the toss and opted to bat first. India, however, is currently reeling at 40 for 3 at the time of writing. James Anderson has sent opener KL Rahul, No. 3 batter Cheteshwar Pujara, and skipper Virat Kohli back to the pavilion. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are currently at the crease.
India hasn’t made any change to the playing XI. England, on the other hand, has included Dawid Malan and Craig Overton in the playing XI. Zak Crawley and Dominic Sibley have been omitted from the squad, while Mark Wood has been ruled out of the series.
