ZIM vs AFG: Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 21 runs on Sunday and sealed the series 2-0 on Sunday at Harare Sports Club. Batting first, Afghanistan managed to score 170 runs in the first innings. Najibullah starred with the bat, scoring 57 runs in 46 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six.
Later, Nabi gave the team a brilliant finish as he played an outstanding knock of 43 runs in 22 balls, including 1 four and 4 sixes. For Zimbabwe, Chatara was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 33 in 4 overs. Besides, the likes of L Jongwe and Ryan Burl picked one wicket.
In reply, Zimbabwe was restricted to 149 runs in the second innings. Innocent Kaia set the foundation with a 54-run knock-off of 57 balls. Marumani then made a handy contribution of 30 runs in 22 balls, while
Sikandar Raza amassed 41 runs in 22 balls. However, he lacked support from the other end. Kaia and Marumani stitched a handy 52-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Nabi broke the partnership after picking the wicket of Marumani and Craig Ervine (2) went back to the hut in the very next over.
Sikandar Raza held firm at one end but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Raza’s wicket in the 18th over meant it all was all but over for Zimbabwe. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 32 in 4 overs.
All the other bowlers too bowled exceedingly well and helped Afghanistan register their second consecutive win. The third and final T20I is scheduled to be played on Tuesday at Harare Sports Club.
