ZIM vs BAN: Zimbabwe created history on Tuesday after winning the third and final T20I of the series against Bangladesh by 10 runs. Prior to the start of the game, the series was levelled at 1-1. Zimbabwe put in a brilliant performance in the last game to take the series 2-1.
Zimbabwe batted first and managed to score 156 runs at the end of the first innings. Chakabva and Craig Ervine made decent contributions but couldn’t convert the starts into big scores. Later, the likes of Madhevere, Raza, and Sean Williams got out on single-digit scores.
At one stage, Zimbabwe was in trouble at 55 for 5 inside the first 10 overs. Milton Shumba’s wicket in the 13th over meant they lost six wickets for just 67 runs on the board. However, Ryan Burl and L Jongwe then joined hands and stitched a 79-run partnership to help the team reach a target of 156 runs on the board.
Bangladesh would have been disappointed to have conceded this many runs despite taking half of the wickets very early. The likes of Mehidy Hasan (2 for 28) and Hasan Mahmud (2 for 28) returned with impressive figures for Bangladesh.
In pursuit of the run-chase, Bangladesh didn’t make a great start. Both the openers, Liton Das (13) and Emon (2) got early. The likes of Anamul Haque (14), Najmul Hossain (16), and Mahmudullah (27) all failed to inspire any confidence.
Afif Hussain remained unbeaten on 39 runs in 27 balls, including 3 fours. However, he lacked support from the other end. Mehidy Hasan kept the hopes alive with 17-ball 22 but his wicket in the 19th over meant it became more difficult for the visitors. In the end, Bangladesh fell 10 runs short of the target.
