NZ vs PAK 2nd Test Day 2 Stumps: Pakistan made a great comeback in the final session of day 1 to reduce New Zealand to 309 for 6. They needed to start well on the first session on day 1 and remove the tail as quickly as possible.

Pakistan started well as Naseem Shah accounted for the wicket of Ish Sodhi in the second over of the session. However, Tom Blundell reached his fifty. But Pakistan managed to remove both Southee and Blundell to leave New Zealand at 345 for 9.

The fans were hoping to see Pakistan batters come out in the middle soon but it took an eternity for Babar Azam and Co. to take the last wicket. Matt Henry and Ajaz Patel enjoyed smashing boundaries as they put on a 104-run partnership for the final wicket.

Matt Henry played an outstanding knock of 68 runs in 81 balls, while Patel amassed 35 off 78. Thanks to that partnership, New Zealand managed to finish at 449 for 10 in the first innings.

Imam Ul Haq holds the fort for Pakistan

In pursuit of the total, Shafique and Imam Ul Haq made a decent start but Matty Henry send the former back in the 8th over. Masood looked to play aggressively and smashed three fours in four balls to Ajaz Patel.

However, the New Zealand spinner had the last laugh as Masood hit it straight to Conway at a backward point. At tea on day 2, Pakistan had lost two wickets for 62 runs and needed a partnership.

Babar Azam then joined hands with Imam Ul Haq and put on a brilliant partnership. The duo was playing beautifully and had added 43 runs for the third wicket.

But what followed, thereafter, was an extremely funny mix-up. Imam Ul Haq called Babar Azam for the third but backed out at the last minute. As a result, the Pakistan skipper got run out for a well-made 24 off 41 balls.

Pakistan didn’t lose any wickets, thereafter, as they end their day on 154 for 3 in 47 overs at stumps on day 2. Imam Ul Haq is unbeaten on 74 off 125 balls but Pakistan still has a long way to go.

NZ vs PAK 2nd Test Day 2 Brief Scores: Stumps Pakistan 154 for 3 (Imam 74*, Babar 24, Ajaz 1-30, Henry 1-35) trail New Zealand 449 (Conway 122, Latham 71, Henry 68*, Blundell 51, Abrar 4-149) by 295 runs
