Pakistani team which is currently in New Zealand are all set to begin their on-field warm-up sessions next week. Babar Azam and his men were slated to face New Zealand A between December 10-13 for a four-day engagement.
The side has decided with the agenda of maximizing their preparations for the T20I and Test series starting December 18.
Pakistani players were not allowed to step on the ground for training after seven of their players tested positive for coronavirus.
Earlier, England team went by the same method by playing an intra-squad match ahead of the T20I series against South Africa. That seemed to work them as they went on to seal the T20I series 3-0 at Cape Town.
Pakistan had played the intra-squad game during the England tour for their preparation but that didn’t work for them and they lost the Test series.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has named a strong A team squad for the four-day warmup game against Pakistan slated to be played in Queenstown.
New Zealand vs Pakistan series will get underway with 1st T20I match at Eden Park on December 18, followed by the next two matches on December 20 and 22 respectively.
