The third T20I between West Indies and New Zealand at Bay Oval stands canceled after rain washed off the match. The rain restricted the West Indies inning to just 2.2 overs, leaving the players and spectators utterly disappointed.

With this, New Zealand win the series by a 2-0 lead. Bowler Lockie Ferguson wins the Player of the Series title.

New Zealand all-rounder and T20I captain Mitchell Santner said, “Very happy with the way we went about our business. West Indies are a very tough side. It’s a little disappointing. They came a long way. We both did quarantine. So to not get a full game is a bit disappointing.”

After winning the toss, Santner had chosen to bowl first. West Indies started off well with Brandon King and Andre Fletcher opening for the side. But just second ball of the second over and King succumbed to Ferguson’s attack. And contributing 11 runs with the help of a six and a four, King went back to the pavilion. West Indies had just completed 25 runs by 2.2 when rain spoiled the match.

Disappointed over the loss, Kieron Pollard said, “Obviously disappointed. As a unit, didn’t expect to be outplayed this badly. Onus was on us to compete and win the series. But hopefully the guys in the Test series can get something out of the Test series.”

West Indies will now try to turn the tables in the upcoming two-match Test series that get rolling on December 3.
