India’s incumbent skipper Rohit Sharma made his debut on this day 15 years ago i.e. 19th September 2007 against England in the Super Eight stage of the inaugural edition of ICC T-20 World Cup in South Africa. Though not getting a chance to bat, Sharma grabbed a vital catch of Solanki as India won the match by 18 runs.

Iconically known as the hitman, Rohit Sharma made his debut at the age of only 20 years. Since then, the frontline batsman has established himself as one of the most versatile and electrifying batsmen across all three formats of the game.

Rohit Sharma has been fond of T-20I. He is one of the most successful batsmen for India in the shortest format of the game. In a total of 136 T-20 International matches for India, Sharma has scored a total of 3,620 runs with an impulsive average of 32.32. Notably, he has scored a record four centuries in his T-20I career along with 28 half-centuries.

Rohit is the leading run-scorer in T-20I across the globe. His nearest rivals are his counterpart, Virat Kohli (3,584) and astonishing New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill (3,497) runs. Hitman is known for hitting the massive sixes out of the park and with 171 sixes in his T-20I career, he is just a spot below Guptill who has smashed 172.

Rohit has been one of the finest batsmen in India. Along with the glory in the international circuit, Sharma has led IPL franchise Mumbai Indians for a record four victories in the championship. He was also a part of the Deccan Chargers franchise which lifted triumphed in 2009.

With the approaching T20I World Cup in Australia, Rohit will be a man with an integral mission. The skipper will aim to seize the opportunity and bring the trophy back to India after 15 years. Wishing Hitman all the luck!
