PAK vs NED 1st ODI: Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands after beating them by 16 runs in the first ODI. Pakistan managed to post a pretty good score of 316 runs at the end of the first innings. The opener, Fakhar Zaman led the way with the bat as he produced a brilliant knock of 109 runs in as many deliveries. His knock was studded with 12 fours and 1 six.

His partner Imam ul Haq got out cheaply for just 2 runs, however, Babar Azam provided brilliant support to the southpaw. The duo added 168 runs for the second wicket and laid the foundation for a big score. Babar Azam scored 74 runs in 85 balls. Coming in at number four and five, Mohammad Rizwan (14) and Khushdil Shah (21) couldn’t build on the start they got.

However, an unbeaten 28-ball 48 from Shadab Khan meant Pakistan reached a formidable score on the board. As for the Netherlands, Bas de Leede was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 42 runs in 10 overs. At that stage, it looked like Pakistan would easily win the game.

However, Netherlands’ batters fought hard till the very end and kept the hopes alive for the most part of the run-chase. Despite the likes of Max ODowd (1) and Wesley (2) getting out cheaply, Vikramjit kept the team in the hunt with a brilliant knock of 65 runs in 98 balls, including 5 fours.

Later, Tom Cooper (65) and Scott Edwards (71 off 60) produced brilliant knocks with the bat. While the former got out, Edwards was at the crease right till the end. However, he lacked support from the other end as wickets kept falling in intervals. In the end, the Netherlands fell 16 runs short of the target.
