PAK vs NED: Pakistan win by 9 runs in the 3rd ODI; seal series 3-0

PAK vs NED 3rd ODI: Pakistan registered a 3-0 whitewash against the Netherlands after beating the latter by 9 runs in the third ODI in Rotterdam on Sunday, August 21. With this victory, the team has totalled their points to 120 in 12 matches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.

The hosts put on a great show with the ball and restricted Pakistan to 206 runs on the board. Barring Babar Azam, who scored 91 runs in 125 deliveries, none of the batters made a significant impact with the bat. Openers, such as Shafique (2) and Fakhar Zaman (26) got out early, while the likes of Agha Salman (24), Khusdil (2), and Mohammad Haris (4) also failed to hit the straps.

For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 50 runs in 9 overs. Besides, Kingma picked two, while the likes of Dutt, Ahmad and Van Beek picked one each.

In reply, the Netherlands took the game till the very last over but fell 9 runs short of the target. Senior batters such as Max ODowd and Bas de Leede departed early. But then, Vikramjit Singh stepped up with a 50-run knock in 85 balls, including 7 fours.

Later, Tom Cooper played yet another stellar knock of 62 runs in 105 balls, including 4 fours. However, he couldn’t take the team over the line. He got out in the 46th over off Mohammad Wasim Jr.

At this point, it was all but over for the Netherlands. In the end, the hosts were bundled out for 197 runs on the board.

For Pakistan, Naseem Shah starred with the ball, returning with sensational figures of 5 for 33 in 10 overs. Mohammad Wasim Jr. bowled equally well as he picked 4 wickets for just 36 runs in 9.2 overs.

Naseem Shah was named the Player of the Match.
