After winning the ODI series, Pakistan also sealed the T20I series by defeating Zimbabwe at Rawalpindi by 8 wickets on Sunday. It was a clinical performance from both bowlers and batsmen that overwhelmed the visitors in the three-match T20I series.
After winning the toss, Babar Azam decided to bowl first and put Zimbabwe to bat. Zimbabwe led by Chibhabha didn’t have a favourable start as they lost wickets early in their innings. With a struggling contribution from the middle order, the visitors managed a total of 134/7 after 20 overs.
Ryan Burl top-scored an unbeaten 34 runs off 22 balls and held the wicket in order to go past 100 run mark.
Haris Rauf and Usman Qadir picked three wickets each while Faheem Ashraf settled with one wicket on his name.
While chasing the target of 135 runs, Pakistan lost the opener Fakhar Zaman on just 5 runs, but that seldom bothered the side.
Skipper Babar Azam (51 runs) and Haider Ali (66* runs) ensured the side didn’t lose momentum by putting up a 100-run stand and win the match with 29 balls in hand.
Haider Ali became the player of the match for his unbeaten 66 runs studded with six boundaries and three sixes. Pakistan and Zimbabwe will play in the third ODI on November 10 at Rawalpindi Stadium, also marking the end of the limited-overs series.
