Pakistan vs Hong Kong: The 6th match of the Asia Cup 2022 sees Pakistan take on Hong Kong on Friday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Both teams need to win this game if they are to reach the top four. Both teams are coming off a defeat at the hands of India and are looking to register their first win in the tournament.
Pakistan suffered a 5-wicket defeat against India in their first match. They didn’t bat as good as they would have liked. Babar Azam fell early for a score of just 10 runs, while the likes of Fakhar Zaman (10), Iftikhar Ahmed (28 off 22), and Khushdil Shah (2 off 7) also failed to hit the straps.
Rizwan top scored with 43 off 42 balls but he lacked support from the other end. Pakistan would have got out on a much lesser total had Haris Rauf (13 off 7) and S Dahani (16 off 6) not provided the finishing touches.
As for India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with figures of 4 for 26 in 4 overs, while Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively. In pursuit of the run-chase, India chased down the score in 19.4 overs. Naseem Shah bowled beautifully in the last game but got injured as well. He could be replaced by Hasan Ali. The onus would be on Dahani and Rauf to pick wickets.
On the other hand, Hong Kong suffered a 40-run defeat against India. Their bowlers went sent on the leather hunt as India notched 192 runs on a pitch that wasn’t good to bat on. The bowling unit would be looking to improve on the areas they need to bowl at and showcase improved performance in the next match.
Hong Kong, however, would be happy with the way they batted. Nobody had expected them to score 152 runs in the second innings and that should have given them a lot of confidence. It will be interesting to see how they fare against Pakistan.
