Recently appointed Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Najam Sethi opined that the management will agree and follow the government’s advice for travel to India for the upcoming World Cup. 2023 will be witnessing two of the biggest stages of the cricket world- the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023. Presently, India and Pakistan are battling over the hosting rights for both events next year.

Committee boards of both countries, BCCI and PCB for India and Pakistan respectively are butting heads after BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that the Asia Cup 2023 would be conducted in a neutral place instead of Pakistan. In the aftermath of this comment, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said that Pakistan will be boycotting the 2023 ODI World Cup next year in India if India refuses to come to Pakistan for Asia Cup.

Raja was quoted by India TV stating, “We will obey whatever the government would suggest to us and we will seek the government’s advice when the time arrives, similar to the last time I was the chairman. As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, I will go to ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and see what the situation is and we’ll take a decision that is in the better interest of the game. We have to see what the other board’s position is, we have to play cricket with everyone, and we will not take any step which can cause any isolation.”

Mickey Arthur to likely become Pakistan’s coach

Currently, the Pakistan team is in turmoil after multiple reports have come up over reports of Babar Azam being stripped of captaincy and changes in coaching management. Sethi has only confirmed regarding contacting Mickey Arthur, South African cricketer, ex-coach to return.

Under Arthur’s coaching, the team won the Champions Trophy in 2017. He was Pakistan national team’s head coach from 2016 to 2019. There hasn’t been any official confirmation about his return and the change in management yet by the apex board.
