The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to start its first-ever Women’s Under-19 T20 tournament. It will be contested by six regional associations and the tournament will begin on 13th August 2022. The Lahore Country Club, Muridke will host all the matches for the 10-day round-robin tournament.

As many as 84 players, including 15 reserve players will get the chance to be part of the tournament. As per the board, the tournament is being organized in a bid to create a strong talent pool heading into the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa next year.

It is pertinent to note that the players who are born on or after 1st September 2003 are eligible to participate. The standout performers are likely to be added to the senior sides of the national T20 and one-day domestic tournaments.

It has been understood that the upcoming Under-19 tournament will act as a pathway for players to press their names on the senior team. Apparently, this isn’t the first time when the Pakistan Cricket Board have organized a junior cricket tournament for women.
