The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday confirmed the retirement of the Indian cricketer Suresh Raina. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also praised the all-rounder for his contribution in the white-ball cricket.

Yesterday, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni announced his retirement from the international cricket by posting a video on his Instagram account. Moments later, Raina also announced his retirement from the international circuit as he also took to his Instagram account to inform everyone.

The BCCI confirmed that the left-handed batsman conveyed his decision to the Board about his retirement.

“Suresh Raina has been one of the key performers in limited-overs cricket for India. Coming lower down the order and playing some of the match-winning knocks requires a lot of skill and talent. He along with Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni formed a solid middle order for India in ODIs. I wish him and his family all the very best,” Ganguly said.

Raina is the first Indian player to score centuries in all the three formats of the game. Besides, he has been one of the game changers due to his effortless and amazing fielding. Raina has also been a part of the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup title and 2013 Champions Trophy title. His contribution in the white ball cricket especially T20 cricket also makes him one of the finest batsmen in the shortest format of the game.
