Rishabh Pant hospitalised following a car crash

Team India star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been hospitalized after he got seriously injured in a road accident. Pant reportedly travelled home to Roorkee on National Highway 58 in a Mercedes GLE car.

On early Friday morning at 5:30 am, his car hit the divider railings on the Delhi-Haridwar highway before tossing and turning about a few times. The car was then seen on fire and Pant broke a window to escape. Initially, he was admitted to Roorkee Civil Hospital before he was transferred to Max hospital in Dehradun.

Swapn Singh, the superintendent of police said, “Hearing a loud sound of the accident, nearby villagers along with the local cops, rushed to the spot and pulled him out of the car. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a major hospital in Dehradun.”

A senior police officer said, “Pant sustained injuries on his forehead, a hand, and right knee. However, he is conscious and able to talk. The car he was driving was completely burnt. He is lucky to survive the severe accident.” 

Another officer stated about the charred car being taken away for the investigation to check if the airbags opened or not. VVS Laxman tweeted about Pant’s condition that the wicketkeeper is “out of danger” and wished him a speedy recovery.

Pant was last seen in the Test series against Bangladesh where he hit a victorious 93. He is scheduled to report to the NCA for Strength & Conditioning work ahead of the Test series to be played against Australia from February 9.

VVS Laxman tweeted about Pant’s condition that the wicketkeeper is “out of danger” and wished him a speedy recovery.

Uttarakhand Govt to bear expenses

“Taking details from the officers on cricketer Rishabh Pant injured in a car accident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami asked officers to ensure all possible arrangements for the proper treatment of the cricketer. Praying for his speedy recovery, CM announced that the state government would bear all expenses of the treatment. An air ambulance will also be provided if required,” the statement by the state government said.
