Indian wicket-keeper batsman Robin Uthappa is still hopeful of making a comeback in the Indian team in the future. Uthappa is slated to represent Rajasthan Royals franchise in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League IPL) in the UAE.
Uthappa has been out of favour from the last few years but the 34-year-old feels that a good IPL season would surely pave a path for him in the Indian team. The 13th edition of IPL will kick-start from September 19 and the matches will take place in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
This will be Uthappa’s first season with the Rajasthan Royals after the franchise bought him in the IPL 2020 auctions last December.
While answering one of the questions of a fan, Rajasthan Royals posted a video of Uthappa in which he stated: “I certainly believe that if we have a great season in the IPL, wonderful things could happen to me and even bring me back into the reckoning for the Indian team.”
“I am someone who is always positive as a human being and I look for silver linings even in negative situations. So my conviction is really strong that god willing, that I will be able to represent my country again and bring laurels to it. I hope that happens,” he added.
In his International career, Uthappa has played 46 ODIs and scored 934 runs at an average of 25.94. He has also played 13 T20Is and scored 249 runs. He played for the Kolkata Knight Riders until the last season before joining Rajasthan Royals this season.
