RPSG Group has hired Lance Klusener to lead its Durban franchise in the inaugural CSA T20 League on Monday.

Lance Klusener is the former South African cricketer and current international cricket coach. He was renowned for both his powerful bowling and outstanding hitting. Klusener had earned prominence for his performance in the One Day Internationals.

After finishing his playing career, Klusener transitioned into coaching. He began in the 2010s with the Durban Dolphins before travelling the world.

Since then, he has coached Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh on the international scene. Additionally, he also coached the Bangladesh Premier League, Tamil Nadu Premier League, and IPL

He has accrued 3,576 runs for South Africa in 171 ODI games, averaging 41.10. His bat has procured two centuries and 19 half-centuries. Additionally, he played 49 tests for Proteas, accumulating 1,906 runs. At an average of roughly 32, four centuries, and eight fifties.

Lance Klusener said in a statement, “I am honoured to join the RPSG family. This is a new challenge for me. It makes me very proud. I am looking forward to meeting the team.”

RPSG-owned Lucknow Giants in IPL

RPSG group also owns a cricket franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Star Indian batter KL Rahul led the team in the 2022 edition of IPL. LSG performed admirably, making the playoffs. However, they suffered defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the eliminators.

Cricket South Africa revealed on July 19 that Graeme Smith is chosen to lead the country’s brand-new T20 competition.

Smith was the most successful Test captain in cricket history. He will manage all parts of the new T20 League. And create what is envisioned as a dynamic brand that highlights the quality of South African cricket.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and SuperSport TV had previously announced on April 29 the creation of a 20-over league. It will consist of six privately owned franchises beginning in January 2023.
