Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are on the same page for the upcoming Test series later this month. Both the boards are positive about staging the two-match Test series scheduled to begin from December 26 in Centurion.

It will be followed by the second Test at Johannesburg from January 3 as planned earlier between both the boards.

This week saw South Africa in a bit of humiliation after the three-match ODI series was called off by ECB after some players tested positive for COVID-19.

CSA released a statement clearing that SLC medical unit chaired by Arjuna De Silva conducted the entire assessment also approved of the series to go ahead.

“Cricket South Africa appreciates the ongoing support from Sri Lanka Cricket under the leadership of Ashley de Silva, who has never wavered in its willingness to engage us in important and open discussions around our plans and the state of our readiness for the tour,” said CSA acting CEO Kugandrie Govender in an official statement.

“We are thankful that these discussions have allayed any trepidation around CSA’s ability to successfully host home tours in these unpredicted times,” he added.

Sri Lankan players are scheduled to leave for South Africa by the next week along with head coach Mickey Arthur and health specialists.

After the SA series, Sri Lanka will also host England for the two-match Test series starting January 14 at Galle, followed by the second Test from January 22.
