SIX vs REN Live Score: Sydney Sixers claimed their third win of the season after beating Melbourne Renegades by 34 runs on Wednesday at Sydney Cricket Ground. Batting first, the Sixers managed to score 149 runs in the first innings.
The likes of Kurtis Patterson (17 off 16) and J Vince (26 off 23) weren’t at their best but a valuable knock of 55 off 40 balls from Phillipe meant the Sixers went hammer and tongs in the first half of the innings.
They had scored 91 runs in just 12 overs but things turned upside down when Phillipe got out on the final ball of the 12th over. Wickets kept falling at short intervals, thereafter, as the Sixers couldn’t finish as well as they would have liked to.
The likes of Henriques (1), Silk (19), and Christian (7) got out on single-digit scores. As for the Stars, Mujeeb was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs. Kane Richardson also made a stellar spell of 2 for 22 in 4 overs.
The Sixers were brilliant with the ball as they put in a display of discipline bowling. Guptill (0) and Nic Maddinson (1) departed inside the first four overs. Aaron Finch (36) and Marsh (28) stitched a 55-run stand for the third wicket but neither of them could go on to play a big inning.
Renegades’ middle order collapsed
Hayden Kerr rattled the stumps of Shaun Marsh to break the partnership and, after that, wickets fell in quick succession. The lower-middle order never came to the party and the Stars saw themselves getting bundled out for just 115 runs, handing the Sixers a 34-run win.
Den Dwarshuis starred with the ball for Sydney Sixers, claiming 4 for 17 in 4 overs. Besides, the likes of Sean Abbott and Hayden Kerr claimed two wickets each.
