SIX vs STU Live Score: Sydney Sixers lifted themselves to the top of the table after beating Sydney Thunders by 7 wickets on Sunday. The Sixers put in a brilliant performance with the ball to restrict the opposition to just 133 in the first innings.
Abbott exhibited a sensational spell of fast bowling as he picked up three wickets for just 9 runs in 4 overs. The openers fell early, while Oliver Davies departed for a duck only to leave Thunder to just 12 for 3 in 3.4 overs.
Whiteman and Ross then joined hands to put on a 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Both of them, however, got out at crucial stages in the game. Whiteman amassed 42 runs in 34 balls, while Ross scored 34-ball 34.
Wickets fell quickly after that but a 15-ball 26-run cameo from Cutting meant the Thunders put on a decent score on the board. However, it was never going to be enough Sydney Sixers chased down the score in just 16.2 overs.
The sixers didn’t make a great start to the chase, though. Openers, Josh Phillipe (6 off 6) and James Vince (5 off 5) got out on single-digit scores and Patterson’s (2 off 8) wicket in the 4th over meant the Sydney Sixers were reeling at 25 for 3 inside four overs.
Moises Henriques then joined hands with Jordan Silk and the duo carried the team home quite comfortably in just 16.2 overs. Henriques played an unbeaten knock of 53 runs in 38 balls, while Silk amassed 59 off 42, including 7 fours.
With that defeat, Thunders stay in fourth position with 5 wins in 9 matches. It will be interesting to see how they go about their business.
