SL-L vs ENG-L: Sri Lanka Legends pocketed their second consecutive win on Tuesday after beating England Legends by 7 wickets in the 5th match of the Road Safety World Series. With that win, they have solidified their position at the top of the points table with 2 wins in 2 matches.

One of the most destructive batters ever to play the game, S Jayasuriya showed his skills with the ball as he claimed 4 wickets for 3 runs in 4 overs. Kulasekara, once again, exhibited a brilliant spell as he returned with figures of  2 for 11 in 3 overs, while de Silva claimed 2 for 17.

As a result of the combined bowling effort, England could only manage to score 78 runs in the first innings. Wickets kept falling at short intervals and England could never build a partnership. The openers, Mustard (14) and Bell (15) were the only ones who got started but neither of them could play a big knock.

In reply, Sri Lanka made a positive start as Dilshan Munaweera and T Dilshan added 24 runs but the latter couldn’t stay for too long. The skipper got out after scoring 15 runs in 21 balls.

Upul Tharanga looked good for his 23 off 19 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six. However, he couldn’t stay till the end, getting out in the 13th over. Mascarenhas then accounted for the wicket of Dilshan (24) but Sri Lanka still managed to chase down the score pretty easily in 14.3 overs.

Jeevan Mendis (8 off 4) and Chamara Silva (0) guided the team home in the end. England hasn’t made a winning start but would be looking to come back strongly.
