SL L vs WI L: Sri Lanka Legends won the semi-final against West Indies on Friday to book their place in the final at Road Safety World Series 2022. Sri Lanka Legends batted first and managed to score 172 runs in the first innings. Men in form, Udawette (15), Jayasuriya (26), Dilshan (7), and Tharanga (3) got out on low scores.

Sri Lanka didn’t have a great start but still managed to score 85 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the first half of the innings. Ishan Jayaratne then played a valuable knock of 31 runs in just 19 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes. J Mendis also made a valuable contribution of 25 runs in 15 deliveries, including 3 fours and 1 six.

Thanks to those two knocks, Sri Lanka reached a competitive score of 172 runs in the first innings. For West Indies, K Santokie was, once again, the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 2 for 26 in 4 overs. Bishoo, on the other hand, picked two for 17 in 2 overs.

In reply, West Indies fell 14 runs short of the target. Brian Lara scored four boundaries in his 11-ball 17 before Kulasekara had him bowled in the 3rd over. Dwayne Smith also smacked three fours in his 23-ball 24 but never looked too comfortable at the crease.

However, their short cameos meant West Indies raced away to 65 inside the first 8 overs but also lost both the openers. S Jayasuriya picked the wicket of Smith in the 9th over and on the very next ball, he sent Edwards back to the pavilion as well. In the next over, Perkins made his way back to the pavilion.

However, Deonarine’s stay at the crease meant runs kept coming for West Indies. But the other batters didn’t support him well. Kulasekara eventually had the wicket of Deonarine (63) in the 18th over to bring their game in their grasp.

J Taylor fought hard for his 15- ball 19 but still West Indies couldn’t cross the line. As it stands, India and Sri Lanka will play the final of the Road Safety World Series 2022 on Saturday.
