In a breakthrough for the invincible Somerset, the county club has announced the signing of veteran Durham batsman Sean Dickson. Dickson has been an exceptional batsman in the domestic circuit and has joined the club on a three-year deal.
Sean Dickson has been one of the most performing and sensational batters in the ongoing edition of the County Championship. He has scored a total of 824 runs with a massive average of 54.93. His breathtaking form had already grabbed the attention of several clubs.
Dickson had initially joined Durham on loan in 2020. He earlier represented the Kent County Club. Dickson has informed Durham of his intentions to terminate his contract citing family reasons to shift to the South.
Marcus North, Director of Durham County Club addressed the media and said that Sean has been an excellent batsman for the club. His versatile abilities had made a significant contribution to Durham and the club respects his decision to move to live with his fiance and his daughter Remi.
Sean Dickson has been fabulous for Durham. He has averaged 37.36 in List A at the previous edition of the Royal London One-Day Cup where Durham emerged as the runners-up. His magnificent highest score in first-class cricket remains the handsome 318 against Kent in 2017.
Andy Hurry, Director of Somerset County Club said that he is extremely delighted that an elegant and classical batsman like Sean Dickson is joining the club. He added that Sean’s experience will likely benefit Somerset in the upcoming edition.
Meanwhile, Sean Dickson too expressed that he is happy to be a part of the Somerset side and will likely perform the best for the club. He added by saying that it is a great challenge and he is looking forward to a befitting season for Somerset.
