Cricket South Africa (CSA) unveiled on Friday that they have added three more players to the Proteas squad for the Betway Test series of South Africa vs Sri Lanka. The inclusions are- former South Africa under-19s captain Raynard van Tonder, all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius, and seamer Lutho Cipalma.

This is the maiden call-up for Raynard van Tonder. He earned his place in the squad owing to his spectacular performance in the domestic 4-Day Cup. The 22-year old scored 604 runs at an average of 67.11 in five matches this season, including a double-ton (261 balls), becoming the leading run-scorer.

As for Lutho Ciplama, who looks forward to bolstering the seam bowling of the team, this will be his debut Test outing.

Dwaine Pretorius will finally be back in action after recovering from the hamstring injury that had caused him to drop out of the white ball series against England. Pretorius is working closely with the medical staff and coaches of the team to prepare himself for the upcoming series.

Doubts still loom over Kagiso Rabada’s participation. He still has not been declared fit for the upcoming games.

CSA stated that they are aiming to integrate more players by the end of the domestic 4-Day Cup.

“This forms part of the organization’s plan to integrate more players at the conclusion of the latest round of the CSA 4-Day Cup,” CSA stated in their official release.

The two-Test series will commence on Boxing Day in Centurion. The first Test will take place between December 26-30 while the second Test take place between January 3-7 in Johannesburg.
