Spectators allowed to witness India vs Australia Boxing Day Test at MCG

Daniel Andrews, the current Premier of Victoria on Monday established that fans may get to enter the stadium during the Boxing Day Test. This development takes place just after Victoria will come out of the lockdown after four months of hiatus due to COVID-19.

India is scheduled to tour Australia for a long series comprising of ODI, T20I and the Test series starting in December. The boxing day test that was speculated to take place in Adelaide due to the rising cases in Victoria where MCG is located.

But since the the crisis has been averted in the region, and now Cricket Australia is all set to stage the Boxing day at MCG following the tradition.

Adelaide has still been put as an option if any complications arises in the last minute of drafting the schedule.

“I am very confident that we will get a crowd at the MCG for the Boxing Day Test. I don’t know how big it will be but there will be a crowd. That’s the advice that I have, that’s what we’re working towards,” Andrews told ESPN CrinInfo.

The small strength of spectators was allowed during the recently concluded White-ball series between Australia women and White Ferns. The crowd witnessed the live-action for the first time after six months at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

Cricket Australia is knitting with the New South Wales government (NSW) for the arrangement of quarantine and training facilities when India travels next month.

Sydney Cricket Ground is slated to host the first two matches of the ODI series starting November 27. The tour will also have a Pink Ball Test scheduled to take place in Adelaide Oval.
