Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their opening game of the IPL 2020 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 10 runs on Monday. But the side suffered a double-blow after the all-rounder Mitchell Marsh sustained an ankle injury during Bangalore’s batting.

It was during the fifth over when Marsh twisted his ankle on the fourth ball of his over and left the field. Vijay Shankar completed the remaining two balls and later bowled the remaining overs in place of the injured Marsh.

Later, the 28-year-old all-rounder came into bat during the run-chase but struggled to even stand on the crease. Marsh easily threw away his wicket on the first ball and left the field with the help of the team’s physiotherapist.

After the loss, David Warner gave an update on the all-rounder’s injury saying it was serious, leading him getting sidelined for a considerable number of games. He also lauded Marsh for his courage as he came in to bat despite the injury.

“A lot of courage for Mitchell to go out there and try. It doesn’t look great for him, can’t put any weight on his leg. Hopefully it isn’t too bad, it was quite painful for him, so fingers crossed,” David Warner said.

Jonny Bairstow was the top-scorer of the SRH with 61 runs off 43 balls while Manish Pandey scored 34 runs off 33 balls. SRH next faces Kolkata Knight Riders in their second match-up of the tournament on September 26.
