STA vs HUR: The 35th match in the Big Bash League 2022 will have Hobart Hurricanes take on Melbourne Stars on Monday at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Hobart Hurricanes are languishing at third from the bottom of the table with 3 wins in 8 matches
All is not lost for them, however, and they can still make a turnaround from here. However, their recent form doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. The Hurricanes are coming into this game on the back of a 6-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades.
Hobart Hurricanes batted beautifully in the last match and managed to score 162 runs in the first innings. All four batters in the top-four, comprising Caleb Jewell (28), Ben McDermott (28), Wade (20), and Zak Crawley (13) made handy contributions, but, sadly, none of them could come up with a big knock.
162 didn’t prove enough as Renegades chased it down in 18.1 overs. Apart from Nathan Ellis (1 for 17), no other bowler proved effective for the Hurricanes. Heading into the next game, the fans would want them to improve upon their bowling.
Facing them are Melbourne Stars, who had a forgettable this season. The Stars are languishing at the bottom of the table with only 2 wins in 8 matches. Much like Hobart, the Stars are coming into the game on the back of two consecutive defeats.
The Stars performed well with the bat in the last game. They managed to score 173 runs in the first innings, thanks to an outstanding fifty from Marcus Stoinis. Thomas Rogers also played a solid knock of 48 runs in 33 balls, while Cartwright amassed 38 off 21 balls.
However, it didn’t prove enough as Sixers chased down the target in 19.5 overs. Both teams would be looking to come back to winning ways as one can expect a cracker of a contest.
