The International Cricket Council Board has prolonged consideration on all the items on the agenda to June 10, reason being an atypical concern about confidentiality. Outgoing independent chairman Shankar Manohar held a brief discussion after several board members raised concerns over this issue and felt it needed immediate attention to maintain the inviolability of the board.
It was a unanimous call to initiate an independent investigation led by ICC’s Ethics officer.

As a result of this development, important decisions pertaining to feasibility of the T20 World Cup will be taken on June 10, when the board is stated to meet next. The constantly arising situation of Covid-19 pandemic has cast an indecisive cloud on the T20 World Cup with several media conjectures suggesting to its eventual postponement. The T20 World Cup was initially to be held in October and hosted by Australia. The avid rumours forced the board itself to issue a statement saying the media reports of it being rescheduled were incorrect.
The ICC, as per the new training and on-field guidelines, has to authenticate it’s Cricket Committee’s recent suggestions for resumption of international cricket, including those of banning saliva and appointment of non-neutral umpires on a temporary basis.
With multiple tournaments and series coming to a standstill, ICC has to finally deliberate a process to elect Manohar’s successor for the post of independent chairman.
