The Hundred 2022 Draft: The men’s Hundred draft will be conducted behind closed doors on Monday morning, with the eight clubs each making 42 picks (17 abroad, 25 local) to complete the core of their squads following the February retention window. Earlier, the draft was postponed owing to the funeral of Australian great Shane Warne, who passed away on March 4, 2022.

The draft will take place remotely, with some clubs’ coaches in Mumbai for the IPL, and will be conducted in a snake draft format. Each team will be given one right-to-match (RTM) card, allowing them to match another team’s bid for any player they had under contract in 2021 as long as they have a pick available in the same pay band. In July, teams will add two wildcard signings to their rosters (one overseas, one domestic).

The first and inaugural season of the hundred was won by southern Brave. The defending champion secured the services of Australian All-rounder Marcus Stioinis and six players from England itself which includes big names like Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills.

There are big names still left to pick like Andre Russell, Quinton de Kock, and David warner. They will eventually get picked by six franchises when they get a chance to pick wild card players in the month of July.

The 2022 season of the hundred will begin on 3rd August and will end on 3rd September 2022. A total of 34 matches will be played in the tournament including the playoffs.

The Hundred winner last season:

The 2021 season runner-up Birmingham Phoenix who also topped the table in the league stage retained the services of Player of the tournament Liam Livingstone. The presence of Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali at Nos. 3 and 4 provide them a lot of options, but with their first two picks, they need an opening partner for Will Smeed and a frontline spinner. Because a strong English core is a priority, they might take a chance on a domestic hitter as a first-round pick, but they’re more likely to sign a second foreign player, with a left-handed top-order batter high on the list.
