Astonishing English batsman Jason Roy is set to make his captaincy debut for Oval Invincibles at The Hundred as regular captain Sam Billings is set to miss the upcoming fixture against Northern Superchargers. Billings has been added to the England Lions squad who will face South Africa for a practice match.

Jason Roy will be the stand-in captain and will likely be replaced by Billings after he returns. England Lions will play the frontline South African squad on Thursday. Alongside Roy, Will Jacks will also feature for England Lions in the practice game.

South Africa is on a full-fledged tour of England. They thrashed England in the recently concluded ODI and T-20I series and will probably aim to clean sweep every element of the tour. Meanwhile, England will try to seek revenge in their favourite test format which is the last leg of the tour.

Jason Roy has restricted his captaincy function and will lead a prominent franchise side for the first time. Roy previously led a side back in 2013 in a non-first-class game against Oxford.

Speaking to the media, Roy mentioned that he is delighted to lead the Invincibles and is honoured to serve the extra responsibility.

Though struggling with the bat, we can expect some serious resilience with the destructive opening batsman and skipper Jason Roy. He has managed to score only 76 runs in 98 balls at the ongoing edition of the Hundred. Assignment with a key responsibility may witness an upward trend in performance of Roy.

Oval Invincibles all-rounder Sam Curran said that the side will definitely hamper Billings and Jacks from missing out. However, he added that he is happy to see the duo playing for the Lions.

Coming to Northern Superchargers, they are set to miss the services of Harry Brook who is also involved in the England Lions squad. Brook is replaced by Saif Zaib on a short-term basis. Craig Miles will replace Matthew Potts who has been included in the national side whereas Wayne Parnell will fill the place of Dwayne Bravo who will leave for CPL.
