The Hundred: Northern Superchargers retain Adil Rashid, David Willey

Northern Superchargers on Thursday confirmed retaining the players Adil Rashid, David Willey and Katie Levick ahead of the inaugural edition.

The inaugural edition of “The Hundred” tournament was due to take place in 2020 has been pushed to the next year. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to announce the revised schedule of highly anticipated tournament.

There are eight men’s teams and they have until January to decide which players to retain ahead of the tournament.

At the same time, ECB offered the women cricketers the contract roll over until the 2021 season or negotiate with other teams.

Both Rashid and Willey were picked by the Superchargers in October last year, and they have now been retained alongside star all rounder Ben Stokes.

“With myself, Ben and David already confirmed we’re looking to build a really strong side for 2021 and hopefully we can have a successful first season,” Rashid said.

Among women cricketers, all-rounder Hollie Armitage became the first player to switch teams ahead of the tournament. She was initially picked by Oval Invincibles last year has now moved to Lauren Winfield Hill to join Katie Levick.
