The Hundred Women 2022: Southern Brave sealed their playoff spot after registering a 10-wicket victory over Trent Rockets in Southampton on Thursday. With that, Brave also earned their fifth straight win in the competition.

Lauren Bell and Amanda Wellington were at the heart of the win as the duo ran through the opposition’s batting unit, picking 7 wickets between them. Bell returned with a sensational bowling spell of 4 for 10 in 20 balls, while Wellington picked three wickets for 18 runs in 20 balls.

Thanks to those two spells, Trent Rockets were restricted to just 88 runs- the lowest total this season. Opener Villani top-scored with the bat, 25 runs off 25 balls. Marie Kelly, on the other hand, scored 22 runs in 15 balls.

In pursuit of a small, target, Smriti Mandhana provided Brave with the perfect start. She scored boundaries right from the start and was given valuable support by Danielle Wyatt.

While Mandhana scored 57 runs in 31 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. Danielle Wyatt, on the other hand, smashed 36 runs in 25 deliveries, including 7 fours. Both stayed unbeaten throughout the chase and helped the team win the game by 10 wickets.

With that win, Southern Brave registered 5 wins in 5 matches and, thus, are sitting at the top of the table. On the other hand, Trent Rockets have now 2 wins in 5 matches and it becomes extremely difficult for them to seal their spot for the playoffs. Only one league stage match is left to be played. Rockets will be playing their last game against Welsh Fire on Monday at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
