England T20I skipper Eoin Morgan smashed 66 runs off 33 balls to help his side win their first T20I match of series on Sunday. The skipper came into bat at the number 4, than his usual six down in the batting lineup. After winning the game, Morgan said that he is hitting the ball better than ever from the last two years.

“The last couple of years have been the most productive of my whole career” Morgan said.

“Even before this series started, the last two years of international T20 cricket and some domestic cricket, are my best numbers to date, which is great” he added.

Morgan blasted six fours and four sixes in his innings of 66 runs with a strike rate of 200. He also led the charge during the successful record chase of 196 runs at the Old Trafford Ground.

The 33-year-old came into bat when England were 66/2, and from there he took the charge by scoring a beautiful half-century en route to his 66 run innings. He also scored his fourth half-century in the last seven T20I matches. He has averaged 59.37 since March 2019 and a strike rate of 183.39 in the T20I format.

“Am I hitting the ball as sweetly as I ever have? Definitely, The numbers definitely back this up, even before this series started, and certainly within T20 cricket” Morgan said.

Pakistani bowlers were able to dismiss the England skipper when the hosts required to score 18 runs. Dawid Malan (54*) and Sam Billings (10) scored the final runs to help the side take the lead by 1-0 in the T20I series.

The third & final T20I match of the series will take place on September 1 at the same venue.
