THI vs PAK: Thailand won their first-ever match against Pakistan in the history of the Women’s Asia Cup on Thursday. Thailand made history with a 4-wicket win, thanks to their spinners and Chatham’s masterclass knock.
The spinners didn’t allow Pakistan to gain any momentum as they could only manage to score 116 runs in their 20 overs. Ameen played a 56-run knock but that too came in 64 deliveries. However, she didn’t receive any support whatsoever. Muneeba Ali got out for 15 runs in 14 deliveries, while the likes of Maroof (3 off 7), Nida Dar (12 off 22), and Ayesh Naseem (8 off 5) also failed to hit the straps.
Aliya Riaz got only 9 balls to play and scored 10 runs while staying unbeaten in the end. A 116-run total was always going to be a difficult one to defend. As for Thailand’s bowling attack, Tippoch starred with the ball, picking 2 for 20 in 4 overs, while the likes of Putthawong (1 for 21) and Boochatham (0 for 19) were also impressive with the ball.
Chantham smacks a sensational 61 off 51 deliveries
In pursuit of the target, Koncharoenkai (13) and Chantham (61 off 51) laid a great foundation with a 40-run partnership. The former got out in the 9th over and Chanida Sutthiruang followed her in the same over.
Chantham and Chaiwai then added 42 runs for the third wicket to take the team closer to the target. But Pakistan bounced back by taking the next 4 wickets for 23 runs. Chantham got out in the 19th over after playing a sensational knock of 61 runs in 51 balls.
Still, 12 runs were needed in the last 8 deliveries but Boochatham (3) and Kanoh (9 off 5) guided the team home with one ball remaining.
THI vs PAK Brief Scores: Thailand Women 117 for 6 (Chantham 61, Tuba 2-18, Dar 2-26) beat Pakistan Women 116 for 5 (Ameen 56, Tippoch 2-20) by four wickets
