Former West Australian and Tasmanian pacer Tim Macdonald has been appointed as the new senior assistant coach of the England Women’s team.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed his appointment and the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the news of his appointment on Wednesday.

Macdonald has previously worked with the England Women’s team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as an interim coach earlier this year. So, he already has the experience with the women’s team in the past.

He was also associated with the Women’s Big Bash League team Perth Scorchers and served as the assistant coach under the head coach Lisa Keightley.

Keightley praised the 39-year-old seamer as she said:

“I’ve known Tim for a while and I’ve worked with him previously and I knew what skills he would bring to the group, especially with the fast bowlers,”

“He was a great addition across the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia and when it came to the interview he was the stand-out candidate in terms of helping the team continue their improvement.” she added.

Macdonald also joined the women’s squad at Derby on Tuesday where the players are training for their upcoming limited overs series against South Africa.
