Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SunRisers Hyderabad announced on Tuesday that they have appointed Tom Moody as their Director of Cricket. The franchise made the announcement on their official Twitter handle.

The former Australian cricketer has had a successful stint with the franchise in the league, helping them win the title in 2016 by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals. The side went on to reach the finals of the 2018 season but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals.

During his time with the SRH, he ensured the side make it to the playoffs of the tournament for three consecutive years.

Thrilled by his appointed, Moody expressed his appreciation for the same. He was associated with the side until the 2019 season before Trevor Baylis took over the role in the 13th edition. SRH managed to reach the semi-finals of the recently concluded IPL under Baylis.

“We would like to thank Tom Mody, who has made an enormous impact with the franchise, helping us achieve 5 playoff appearances over the past 7 years, including a much treasured championship in 2016. We would also like to thank him for his work ethic and leadership over our journey and wish him all the success moving forward,” the franchise had said in their release.

Moody served in the team for seven years and had produced impressive results. It was under his mentorship that the SunRisers Hyderabad won the title in 2016.

This is will mark the return of the former Australian cricketer to the team and his presence would also add strength to the side for winning the second title of the tournament.
